![]() I was pondering getting the HF Fortress 5 gallon stateside whenever a good deal/discount came along but the Ridgid surprisingly has fairly similar specs though it's a "dual stack" unit and 0.5gal less. ![]() Might not be for everyone, but it seems to be a solid portable compressor at a reasonable price with high CFM and a lifetime warranty. I ended up not needing it for the construction (my carpenter showed up with battery powered Dewalt tools and a Paslode framing nailer) so I returned it and have since picked up the $20 check valve I need to repair my little pancake compressor.īut at $299 and with a lifetime warranty from Ridgid (ignore the 3 year coverage HD mentions - Ridgid says it's lifetime) I've ordered it again and will sell my other portable compressors to cover about 1/2 the cost. It seems to be highly regarded in the automotive detailing sector - lots of YouTube content on it no doubt driven by Ridgid marketing, but it did what it promised for me. Also, it's much quieter and has impressive CFM for a portable compressor. Sure enough, it fired up no problem on my inverter and on the generator. With no replacement part easily found in Canada, and needing a compressor for a construction project, I drove the hour to pick this model up as it claims to have 'strong start' tech that allows it to start 'under any power condition'. With a 4000w inverter, or a generator, you have limits on starting surges that AC motors demand and my small 0.6HP pancake compressor's check valve failed. ![]() I bought this unit at full price a couple of months ago to try at my off grid cabin. Don't often see discounts like this on Ridgid air compressors, and having personally used this model, I figured I'd share this for the few people who might be interested.
