With a shudder of nerves Rico recalled him saying in his thick accent “my girls are more precious zan my Death Ray. Now the three girls were his pride and joy. Perhaps, at first, Gru had hoped the missiles would activate, sending the girls into oblivion. Agnes, the youngest, slept in the bottom missile surrounded by various unicorn paraphernalia including her stuffed unicorn which never left her side. Below her was Edith the tomboy who had developed a passion for karate and ninjas. This distrust undoubtedly came from the time they had spent at Miss Hattie’s home for girls prior to Gru adopting them. Margo, the eldest and most distrusting of the three, slept at the top. The three girls were tucked up in their missile bunk beds. The already warm light of the early morning sun poured through their large bedroom window. “Five more minutes” grumbled Margo as Rico opened the curtains to their bedroom. The clock read 7:00am signalling the time had come to wake up the girls. His tongue poked out in concentration as he carried the heavy plate, now stacked with a heap of pancakes, down the step ladder and safely onto the table. Working the kitchen like a master chef, Rico prepared hot chocolates for the girls and set the table. Certainly one of Gru’s less evil inventions! With a splutter the wheels of the machine started turning and before long the kitchen was filled with the sweet scent of buttery pancakes. Today he was in charge of looking after the girls while Gru attended the annual Supervillain Conference.įeeling panicked he rushed into the kitchen and climbed on top of the step ladder at the kitchen counter so that he could reach the switch to turn on the Pancake Maker. He had been assigned the task most dreaded amongst the Minions. Ricoblushed and looked down at his slippers whichwas when it dawned on him. He whacked Rico over the head with the back of his hand and with his yellow butt crack exposed, waddled out of the room. ![]() Kevin retrieved the bleating piece of the alarm clock and drowned it in the glass of water on Rico’s bedside table. Rico could only assume these had been knitted by Gru’s mother who was known to have an eye for kitsch. He sported an unflattering pair of woollen pyjama shorts. Kevin, who was Rico’s next door neighbour, burst violently into the room. As he scrambled around the room the sick feeling returned to his stomach, though he could not remember why he felt so uneasy. In order to switch off the alarm clock he needed to put all the pieces back together. The alarm clock continued to wail and the pieces which had exploded moments ago now danced across the wooden floor in Rico’s bedroom. Reluctantly he dragged himself out of bed and into his fluffy bunny slippers. Gru’s latest invention certainly confirmed his recent accolade of World’s Greatest Supervillain. Rico awoke abruptly from a terrifying dream just moments before his alarm clock exploded. In this tale you’ll read of the struggles of one particular Minion who tries to be responsible. ![]() As for the Minions? Well… they remain as mischievous as ever. Following the events in Despicable Me, Gru and the girls settled comfortably into family life.
